Framed

Unfortunately I have misplaced my camera charger and my cell phone is not doing this frame any justice.
Today will be deciding to finish a UFO or starting something new. I think the UFO/ WIP will win out.

Christmas Eve

Happy Christmas Eve. I started filling the stockings just before dinner and realized I never trimmed out the mantel with garland. Looks pretty naked. Will send the boys out to the garage to fetch the box with garland to do one last minute decor. Seafood feast for dinner as well as fun dips, and other snack ítems. Cant wait for tomorrow!
Have a drink in hand watching a movie with the family.

First cup

That first cup of coffee this morning in my favorite Christmas mug met the skein of DMC 216 that I was using to finish up the flowers at the top of my LHN "Battle Hymn of the Republic". I don't think I have ever done this before. I ran to soak it and changed
The water. I was happy to find that I had I more threaded needle which ended up being enough to finish what needed finishing. All was not lost. I am thinking May finish in time to frame and put under the tree for hubby to put in his office.

Soup Day

Its a cheeseburger soup kind of day. Pretty rainy and dark. My first day off was spent going to the library, mailing my Christmas cards then home for a nap, straightening up the house getting the soup on for dinner And now for some stitchy time!

Progress

This is what I had by Sunday night, same day I started this LHN 2010 ornament. Yesterday was Vierlanden's Anna sampler day. It is all one color of DMC 815 so I did all the stitches one way ( I forget what that's called) and now am going back and filling in the top stitch. It is 8:30am. All household chores done, breakfast dishes in the dishwasher, hubby and the kid gone for the work/school day, coffeepot done brewing and I am free to stitch the whole day through!!!!

Christmas Orny

Wow three posts in a row! I know I said I was working on Vierlanden and Battle Hymn in rotation, but decided to get a move on the Christmas ornaments. Did not get very far in my planned LHN ornaments last year. The ones I did make I ended up giving as gifts. This year these are keepers. First on the list, "All Dolled Up". Plan to make the ornaments take along projects to my new job for work on during lunch. Vierlanden I really want to finish for my new office.

Battle Hymn of the Republic

This is what I started on the 4th of July to commemorate our first 4th here in Oklahoma.
It is Little House Needleworks "Battle Hymn of the Republic". I have actually put in more stitches since then while watching the Casey Anthony trial.
I will get a pic and post it later.

Almost a finish!

I finished my Anna sampler...I think!
By that I mean that I did at least half a stitch to complete the sampler. Now I have to go back over and finish the areas where I did not do a complete stitch. Now I can take it in the car this weekend or even outside and finish it without the pattern.
I somehow made a mistake and am kicking myself as I write this :-(

Well I am finally in Oklahoma, unpacked and relaxing and settling in. I was finally reunited with my stitching bag and have been faithfully plugging away at my Anna sampler. Can't wait to finish and get it and Mary Wigham framed.

Road project

I am finally in the hotel on my way to Oklahoma. The movers came and went and with them my stitching bag with my current project! I was so upset when I realized that. I was so busy with everything else and making sure I had everything set aside for the road trip that I forgot to add the bag to those items even though it was prepped and ready. I was desperate enough to get a kit or something at Michaels. Surprise surprise, one store is phasing out and the other never carried needlework kits. So in my desperate state I managed to buy some idea, some DMC 498 , cheapy scissors and needles and printed off "Hornbooks stitcher" freechart by AMAP. What you see is my hotel project. Can't wait to get to Oklahoma, unpack and get to my stitchy bag!!

Thimbles

I collect them! Turns out I have 77. Most I've acquired in travels, makes them more fun. Others from friends or family who travel and remember I collect and 2 as part of exchanges.
I purchased my very first thimble in 1990 in Germany. I just washed all 77! Talk about dishpan hands. I seem to have more from abroad than the US. I forget alot of times to pick one up in our travels. I'm sure I will be collecting a few this summer.

Needles and things

How many needles does a girl need? I took Mayte's advice. After finishing Mary Wigham I have picked up this WIP, Vierlanden Anna sampler. I am also per Mayte's advice :-) picking out a new project to throw into a rotation.
Thanks to the one color DMC 816, I have about 8 needles pre-threaded.Next week is spring break. Guess what I will be doing?:-)

Dilemna...

Do I pick up a WIP more like UFO or do I start something new? Hmmm......

A Finish!!

My Mary Wigham is complete! I have elected to leave out the initials. So for now unless I change my mind prior to framing, she is complete!

Little Bit of Mary

Just a little bit left to stitch along with the initials throughout the piece and I will be done with Mary! Have a couple of projects on the back burner that I cannot wait to get to!

Mary and some new stash!

Here is the latest after some stitching this weekend. While I had alot less school work to do this weekend and virtually no running around, I found myself not stitching as much during the weekend as I wanted to and planned. I ended up getting the bug by Sunday night at which point I was tired and new I really needed to go to bed. I hope to get alot done this week, errands/shopping done by Friday so I can devote more time to stitching thsi weekend. I am highly motivated to finish because not only do I have alot of WIPs but I just got two new pieces I am chomping at the bit to start.

Stitch bow

Ok so I have resisted trying stitch bow because this whole time... I thought it required winding. Surprise surprise... It was a piece if cake! I found a stitch bow roll to put them in on sale at JoAnns for $4.00!

Superbowl stitching

Got up this morning and while DH cooked breakfast we enjoyed our coffee and started the wings and ribs for today. I am not a football fan per se but raising three boys and having a DH who loves the sport too, we always celebrate superbowl Sunday.
I plan to have a Supebowl stitch in with plenty to nibble on when I take a break. Anyone else planning similar day?

Stitching time!!

Class for tonight is cancelled! Let the Stitching begin. Here is where I am with Mary Wigam.

More snow

I have no recent stitchy pics to share so I'll post a pic of Cape Cod from this past weekend.
Here in New York we are getting more snow. I am praying my class gets cancelled today. It would be the perfect day to stay in for some serious stitching!
Have plenty of groceries and snacks, just a little bit of laundry to wrap ip and then the day can be mine!!!
Please cancel Dr. Yan!!!!!

Last couple of days

I wrote a long post of Monday and it appears to have not made it to my blog. Weird. I've been thoroughly enjoying the last couple of days before school starts back up for me.
This past long weekend I painted 2 wooden letter train sets for my nephew to be and my friends new baby.
I crocheted an eternity scarf with some yummy thick wool ease. I stitched the baby name on a bib and worked on my Mary Wigham a bit. Watched lots of movies, bonded with my Nook reader and ate lots and lots!! Pics to come

Thanks

Thanks for the comments on my recent update. Meredith, you LHN is gorgeous! You reminded me of this UFO of mine. I really want to call it a WIP but it's not:-( .
I am excited about my Vierlanden sampler. I am thinking of doing all the stitches in one direction first and them taking it on a road trip to finish off the top stitch. Hope it does not become boring. I will definitely bring a back up project...perhaps a UFO??

Progress

Not on Mary but on my Vierlanden Anna sampler. I think I will try doing weekly rotations.

Vierlanden Sampler Anna

Three hours later with a break for lunch and some phone calls, this is what I have thus far. This AND two posts in one day!!!!

New project

Why am I starting a new project??? Because I want to :-)
I have resolved not to feel guilty about starting projects and that stitching in a non structured rotation is not a bad thing. I really want to finish Mary soon but I really want to stitch on other pieces too...

Wrinkly crinkly update

Didn't get as much stitchy time as I wanted over the holidays but I plan to make up for it! Here is what I have so far. Don't know why I am avoiding the center part...
